Woman dies in head-on collision

A 22-year-old female motorist died in a head-on collision with another vehicle, gardai said tonight.

The incident happened at Ballyneale, outside Carrick-on-Suir in Co Tipperary at 8.30pm.

A Garda spokesman said: “The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel.

“The male driver of the other vehicle was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital but the extent of his injuries is unknown.

“There were no other occupants in either vehicle apart from the drivers.”
