Italy crash victim laid to rest

Twenty-nine-year-old Mary Clare Collins from Co Kildare was struck by a car at a pedestrian crossing in Rome in the early hours of last Tuesday, along with her friend Elizabeth Gubbins, from Limerick.

A 32-year-old Italian man has been charged with drink-driving, manslaughter, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Ms Collins' funeral took place in Athy, Co Kildare this morning, with burial afterwards in Ballintubbert Cemetery.

Ms Gubbins' removal will take place this afternoon in Castleconnell, Co Limerick.
