Funeral of murder victim McGreevy takes place in Belfast

The funeral has taken place in Belfast of the former republican prisoner Frank McGreevy who was beaten to death in his home.

The 51-year-old was found lying in a pool of blood last Saturday by his 15-year-old son.

He was left on a life support machine from head injuries and died on Tuesday.

A 20-year-old has been charged with his murder, as well as six other offences.

Speaking at the funeral mass, Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams criticised the PSNI for what he says is its failure to respond to criminality.

Mr Adams also spoke of the anger generated in the local community by the killing and he

urged staunchly nationalist local people to give information to the police
