Couple quizzed over taxi driver murder
A couple in their 20s were arrested tonight over the knife murder of an off-duty taxi driver.
Mark Smyth, aged 31, from Duleek, Co Meath, was stabbed to death after driving a man and woman to a housing estate in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, on Tuesday night as a favour.
His partner and young child were in the cab when the row broke out and he was attacked.
Gardai said the man and woman were being questioned at Blanchardstown Station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
They can be held for 24 hours.
It is understood the couple were arrested in north Dublin after a number of homes in the capital were searched.
