Members of the public are being urged to come out on the streets to express anger at the state of the health service.

Members of the public are being urged to come out on the streets to express anger at the state of the health service.

The call has been made by the People Before Profit Alliance, which is hosting a public meeting in Dublin today in an effort to build support for a major demonstration later this month.

Speaking before the meeting, Janette Byrne of Patients Together said the only way the situation will improve is if people stand up and make their voices heard.

She said hundreds of thousands of people had suffered because of the "health crisis".
