A 33-year-old male was arrested today after an elderly man was robbed and threatened at knife point at his home.

A 33-year-old male was arrested today after an elderly man was robbed and threatened at knife point at his home.

The incident happened on Mespil Road, Dublin 4, at 5.20pm yesterday.

The arrested man is being held at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are appealing for taxi drivers who picked up a male fare in the Leeson Street Bridge/Mespil Road at around 5.30 pm and dropped him off at the GPO on O’Connell Street to come forward.

“This man may have paid the fare in sterling.

“They also would like to speak to any person who was in the Mespil Road area between 5pm-5.30pm and who noticed anything suspicious to contact Pearse Street Gardaí.”
