Jury begins deliberation in Mayo rape trial

The trial of a Mayo man accused of raping a neighbour on her 16th birthday has entered its final stages with closing speeches from prosecution and defence counsel.

The 29-year-old accused has pleaded not guilty at the Central Criminal Court to raping the now 18-year-old woman in a Mayo town on July 21, 2005.
