Transport Minister Noel Dempsey is reportedly considering a proposal to impose double penalty-points on motorists during bank holiday weekends.

Reports this morning say Government Chief Whip Tom Kitt has proposed a scheme that would see drivers get double points for speeding and drink-driving offences and one extra point for other offences.
