A Mayo teenager who claims a man raped her on her 16th birthday has told a jury in the Central Criminal Court that she did not initially tell gardaí about rape allegations because she was embarrassed.

The now 18-year-old woman was under cross-examination in the trial of the 29-year-old accused who has pleaded not guilty to raping her in a Mayo town on July 21, 2005.
