Gardaí release name of Thursday’s fatal shooting victim

The victim of fatal shooting in a Dublin estate on Thursday night has been named.

The victim, 29-year-old John Berney of Castlelyon Drive, Newcastle, was shot by a gunman in his home at around 10.30pm.

A 22-year-old man was also seriously injured in the attack but is said to be in a stable condition at Tallaght Hospital.

A firearm has been recovered while a burnt out car was found a short distance from the scene.

The dead man's partner and two young children were in the house at the time of the shooting.
