Recorded crime down 15% in five years in North
The number of recorded crimes in the North have dropped by 15% over the last five years, it was revealed today.
The news follows the unveiling of the government’s plan to invest £9.5m (€12.4m) in Community Safety Partnerships over the next three years.
It also suggests CPS’s are winning the fight to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, according to Criminal Justice Minister Paul Goggins.
He said: “We know these partnerships are making a real impact and increasing levels of confidence.
“Over £9.5m (€12.4m) is a significant investment which underlines our commitment to providing the support and resources so that CPS’s can continue to deliver at local level.
“This investment ensures a sustainable future for CPS’s and will provide the support needed to enable them to play a vital role in reducing crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.”
