Govt to unveil cancer misdiagnosis reports tomorrow
Two reports into the cancer misdiagnosis scandal at Portlaoise Hospital will be published tomorrow, the Taoiseach confirmed tonight.
They will provide the first official accounts of the crisis in which nine women who underwent mammograms were found to have been wrongly given the all-clear after a recall of 3,000 patients.
Mr Ahern said the Minister for Health Mary Harney was ready to publish the reports, while an independent probe into the blunder by consultant radiologist Ann O’Doherty may also be made available tomorrow.
Ms Harney previously said she would be publishing all three reports at the same time.
“She [Mary Harney] intends to publish both those reports with her considered views and response tomorrow,” Mr Ahern said.
