Three held in Tralee terror probe

Three men from Afghanistan were being questioned today in connectoin with a suspected terrorist plot.

Components for explosive devices were recovered in a raid on a hostel for asylum seekers in Tralee, Co Kerry. Local gardaí supported by the anti-terrorist unit carried out the search following an intelligence operation.

The three men were being questioned under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

They were arrested at Atlas House on McCowen’s Lane in the town last night. Officers from the Garda Technical Bureau were examining the devices recovered from the hostel.

It is understood a number of devices including remote control systems were recovered in the raid.
