Dublin city centre streets re-opened

A number of streets in Dublin city centre were re-opened to traffic this evening.

Pearse Street and Lombard Street were closed down this afternoon after a steel sheet from the roof of a building on Pearse Street was blown onto the street.

Inspectors from the 'Dangerous Building' section of Dublin City Council then cordoned off the building in an effort to make it safe, and traffic diversions were put in place.

All streets in the area were later re-opened to traffic, but motorists were being advised to avoid the south city centre if possible due to knock-on traffic delays.
