Murder investigation launched in Limerick
Gardaí in Limerick have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in the Southill area of the city last night.
The 36-year-old was found by a passer-by on the side of the road at John Carew Park shortly after10pm.
It is believed he had been assaulted.
The area has been sealed off and a technical examination will be carried out this morning.
The State Pathologist is also expected to arrive to carry out a post mortem.
Gardaí are not at this stage linking the man's death to ongoing criminal activity in the Southill area although it has been confirmed that the victim was known to them.
Roxboro gardaí are investigating the death and they are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.
