Search launched in Clare for kayaker

A search has commenced for a kayaker who is reported missing on Lough Derg in Co Clare.

It is believed the man was last seen near Scarriff Bay between Kilalloe and Mountshannon several days ago.

Local gardaí along with the Valentia Coastguard are co-ordinating the search which also involves the Irish Coast-Guard helicopter and the Lough Derg lifeboat.

The operation is being concentrated around Cahir Island on the western side of the lake.
