Controlled explosion of viable device in Dublin Park

The Army Bomb Disposal Unit has given the all-clear after carrying out a controlled explosion on an explosive device on Dublin's northside this morning.

The device, which the Defence Forces said was viable, was discovered just after 10am and the gardaí and the army were called to the scene.

The park was evacuated and the surrounding area, including the Clontarf Road, was closed to traffic.

The area has now re-opened after the Bomb Disposal Unit made the device safe just after midday.
