Dublin man guilty of running brothel

A Dublin man has been convicted of running a brothel in the city centre.

Martin "The Beast" Morgan (aged 44), was found guilty by a jury of eight women and four men on day 17 of his trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court or running a brothel at an apartment at Bachelor's Walk.

The jury which returned its guilty verdict following more than eight hours deliberation has retired to consider its decision on a second charge that he organised prostitution there on dates from August 22 to October 10, 2005.

Morgan formerly of Herbert Road, Blanchardstown and with an address at Blackstock Road, London had denied the charges.

Judge Frank O'Donnell withdrew a third charge that Mr Morgan allowed the apartment to be used for prostitution on those dates and has directed the jury to return a "not guilty" verdict on it.

Judge O'Donnell remanded Morgan in custody when the jury returned its guilty verdict.
