A 16-year-old Mayo youth who mugged a young woman while armed with a blade has been told he could spend a substantial part of his life in prison if he doesn’t deal with his alcohol problem.

Judge Tony Hunt at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court imposed a three years term of detention on him and noted he had at 16 already "built up an impressive list of convictions in various parts of the country".
