Man charged with firearm offences

A 23-year-old man is due in court today charged in connection with the shooting of a nightclub doorman.

A 23-year-old man is due in court today charged in connection with the shooting of a nightclub doorman.

Gardaí said the man will be brought before Kilmainham District Court charged with firearms offences.

The doorman, 38, was shot once in the neck as he stood at the door to Hush nightclub at the Red Cow Inn, west Dublin, at around 2am on Sunday.

Several hours later gardaí followed a car into the Dolphin’s Barn flat complex in the south inner city, arrested the man and recovered a loaded handgun.

He was questioned at Clondalkin Garda Station under section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act.

The doorman was recovering in Tallaght Hospital.
