Teenager hurt after escaping from gang

A teenager sustained a serious head injury in Belfast after jumping 20 feet from a footbridge to avoid a fight.

A teenager sustained a serious head injury in Belfast after jumping 20 feet from a footbridge to avoid a fight.

The 18-year-old man was in Lanyon Place at around 9.30pm with three friends when they were confronted by four youths.

Police believe he jumped from the bridge to escape a struggle.

He fell 20 feet onto East Bridge Street, injuring his head and sustaining other injuries.

Detectives were today questioning a 15 year-old about the incident.
