Louth Gardaí search for man who abandoned van at checkpoint

Gardai in Co Louth are searching for a man who abandoned a van after they tried to intercept it this afternoon.

It happened at Mansfieldtowns Cross on the Tallanstown to Castlebellingham Road at around 2.30pm.

It is understood that the man took to the fields after the incident.

The Garda air support unit is also involved in the search.

It is believed suspected fuel laundering equipment was discovered in the abandoned van.
