Victims of paedophile swim coach settle action
Thirteen victims of paedophile swimming coach Derry O'Rourke have settled their action against Swim Ireland and Kings Hospital School in West Dublin.
The High Court approved the settlement this afternoon which includes six figure sums in damages for each of the 13 women.
They were abused by O'Rourke between the mid 1970s and 90s when they were aged between 12 and 17.
He was released last March after serving nine years of a 12 year sentence.
The main allegation against swimming organisation Swim Ireland was that it failed to put in place policies and procedures which could have protected young children.
