The Ombudsman for Children has added her voice to calls for the proposed child protection referendum to be held separately from the vote on the Lisbon Treaty.

The Government is considering holding two separate referenda on child protection and children's rights and some ministers want the first vote to take place on the same day as the treaty ballot.
