Investigations continue into Laois car crash

Investigations will continue this morning into the cause of a car crash in Co Laois which killed three men and a woman.

The sole survivor of the crash remains in a serious condition in hospital.

The two-car head-on collision happened at around 9.30am yesterday morning on the N7 near Borris in Ossary.

It's believed the crash happened when one of the cars tried to overtake the other on the road.

One of the cars was carrying three men in their late thirties, two of whom were killed in the crash.

The front seat passenger was rushed to Portlaoise Hospital, where he's in a critical but stable condition.

A man and a woman - both in their twenties - were travelling in the second car.

Both of them died at the scene.

Gardaí at Abbeyleix are investigating and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
