Aer Lingus chief confident of reaching cost-cutting deal

Aer Lingus chief executive Dermot Mannion says he is confident of reaching a deal with unions on the company's cost-cutting programme.

A deadline imposed by the airline passed yesterday without any agreement being reached, but the two sides are believed to be making progress.
