Paisley 'not welcome' at IRA bomb commemoration

Families of some of the people who died in an IRA bombing in 1978 have told DUP leader Ian Paisley to stay away from their 30th anniversary commemorations next month.

Twelve people died when the IRA mounted a firebomb attack on the La Mon House Hotel near Belfast on February 17, 1978.

Some of the victims say they do not want the DUP involved in their commemoration following its decision to share power at Stormont with Sinn Féin.

Billy McDowell, who was badly injured in the attack, says the DUP appears to have abandoned its previous calls for a proper investigation into the bombing.
