New compensation scheme for injured psychiatric nurses

Psychiatric nurses who are assaulted in the workplace are to receive compensation of up to €100,000 after the Government finally gave the go-ahead for the scheme.

The awards start at €3,000 for broken limbs or injuries requiring stitching, and go up to €30,000 for a loss of hearing and €75,000 for the loss of a leg.
