DUP silent on fresh Causeway controversy

The DUP is remaining silent on a fresh controversy surrounding links between Ian Paisley Jnr and the property developer Seymour Crawford.

Mr Paisley has already attracted controversy over his ties with the businessman, who is hoping to build a private visitor centre at the Giant's Causeway in Co Antrim.

Mr Sweeney is a member of the DUP and a friend of the Paisley family.

It has recently emerged that Mr Paisley lobbied the British government on behalf of the Causeway project during peace talks at St Andrew's in Scotland in October 2006.

Sinn Féin says the revelations are shocking and the Ulster Unionists have described the matter as "sordid".

The DUP, however, has yet to issue a response.
