Report highlights housing problems for disabled people

People with disabilities still experience major difficulties finding suitable housing, according to a report being published today by the Citizen's Information Board and the Disability Federation.

The report recommends that the Department of Finance and Department of the Environment work together with the HSE and voluntary organisations when forming future housing policies.

It says there should be increased investment in social housing so that it can address the needs of a disabled person if required.

It also recommends lifetime housing design so that disruption is minimal if someone acquires a disability later in life.
