Man due in court over north Dublin sword attack

A 33-year-old man is due before Dublin District Court this morning in connection with a sword attack in a north Dublin pub on Sunday night.

A 27-year-old man had his hand severed in the attack, which happened at the Deputy Mayor pub in Meakstown in Finglas.

Two men, one armed with a hammer and another with a samurai sword, walked into the pub at around 9pm and singled out the victim.

He underwent intensive surgery yesterday at St James's hospital to have his hand re-attached and is now said to be in a stable condition.
