A Dundalk man has pleaded guilty to attempting to murder another man in a Dundalk bar in March last year.

Robert Duffy (aged 35) with an address at Oldbridge, Toberona, Dundalk pleaded guilty to attempting to murder Colin O'Neill on March 10 2007 at the Emerald Bar, Church Street, Dundalk.

He also pleaded guilty to a separate count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Mr Justice Paul Carney put back the sentencing to allow for the preparation of victim impact statements. The sentence will now take place on March 31.
