The Atlantic Connectivity Alliance has today expressed disappointment over the ending of the Shannon-Heathrow services but pledged to give its full support to making the City Jet Paris service a success.

Commenting on the final day of Shannon Heathrow services after 50 operating years, ACA spokesperson and chairman of the Shannon branch of the Irish Hotels Federation Mr Michael Vaughan said Government and the Department of Transport were both guilty of ambivalence and incompetence in the handling of the Shannon-Heathrow saga and this, ultimately, led to its downfall.

Mr Vaughan said that the Government had failed honour commitments given to protect the Heathrow service and also demanded answers on the pledge made over two years ago to deliver an economic and tourism development plan to combat Open Skies.
