PSNI question two over human trafficking
A man and a woman were tonight being questioned by police about human trafficking after three women were rescued from a house in Belfast.
The women, who are all foreign nationals but whose country of origin has not been disclosed, are believed to have been rescued from prostitution.
Members of the PSNI’s Organised Crime Squad rescued the women during an operation which took place in Belfast and in County Down.
It was part of the national Operation Pentameter II, involving forces across the UK and Ireland.
The three women had been taken into care by the police.
Meanwhile, the man and woman were being questioned by detectives at a station in the city.
However, the PSNI would not disclose the exact location of today’s operation.
