Eighty jobs lost as Roscommon meat plant closes

Eighty jobs are being lost at the Dawn Meats plant in County Roscommon.

The plant at Ballaghaderreen is to close with business being amalgamated with the Dawn Meats plant in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo.

That plant is to be upgraded at a cost of €15m.

Three hundred and fifty of the 430 full and part-time employees at both sites will be retained.
