Women to sue HSE over cancer misdiagnosis
A number of women caught up in the cancer misdiagnosis scandal at Portlaoise Hospital are reportedly planning to sue the Health Service Executive.
Reports this morning say a firm of Dublin solicitors with expertise in medical negligence has been approached by the women to determine if they have a case.
Each of the women's medical cases will reportedly be assessed to see if there are grounds for legal action.
The scandal first emerged last August when concerns were expressed about the accuracy of some ultrasound scans and mammograms.
Around 3,600 tests were subsequently reviewed and nine women were informed that they had wrongly been given the all-clear for breast cancer.
