RSA happy with road deaths decrease
The Road Safety Authority says improved driver behaviour is leading to a decrease in the number of people dying on the roads.
336 people were killed on the roads this year, a 9% decrease on the 365 people who died in 2006.
The RSA says random breath testing, tougher penalties for drink driving and more traffic corps Gardam have helped bring about the drop.
But spokesperson Brian Farrell says the main reason is that drivers are making a conscious effort to behave more responsibly on the roads.
