Gardaí will continue questioning a man in Drogheda later this morning in connection with the latest murder in the Co Louth town.

Gardaí will continue questioning a man in Drogheda later this morning in connection with the latest murder in the Co Louth town.

The 19-year-old suspect was detained after 41-year-old Des Kimmins was stabbed in the Rathmullen Park area early yesterday.

The father-of-two died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital from the injuries he sustained in the knife attack.

Detectives are also investigating the murder of 29-year-old Darren McKeown who died in Drogheda on Saturday after being attacked on Saint Stephen's Day.

These deaths bring to 75, the number of people who died violently during 2007 making it the bloodiest year in the State's history.

This figure is up from 68 in 2006.
