Gardaí arrest man after fatal stabbing

A man has been stabbed to death in Drogheda.

The incident happened at Rathmullen Park in the town between 3am and 4am this morning.

The 41-year-old was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was pronounced dead.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and is being held at Drogheda Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene of the incident has been preserved for a technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post mortem will be carried out later today.
