Woman questioned in connection with serious attack

A 29-year-old man was fighting for his life tonight after being attacked and left for dead.

He was found lying on the driveway of a house in an estate in Drogheda, Co Meath with severe head injuries.

Gardaí were called to the home in Rowan Heights, Marley’s Lane at around 3am this morning.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the attack and was being questioned by detectives at Drogheda garda station.

She is being held under section four of The Criminal Justice Act.

The injured man was initially taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda but later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin where he is in a critical condition.
