Two dead after separate crashes in Co Louth

Two people have been killed in separate road accidents in Co Louth.

A man in his 30s has died in hospital after his van crashed at Dromiskin this morning.

And a 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-car collision last night.

These two latest road deaths come as the Gardaí issue an appeal to motorists to drive carefully today, due to icy road conditions.

They are appealing for witnesses to this morning's crash involving a van at Whiterath in Dromiskin.

The driver of the van was taken to Louth Co Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of the 23-year-old woman who died in a separate accident in Co Louth last night.

Her car crashed into another at Cornamucklagh shortly before 8pm.

A couple who were in the second car were also injured, but are said to be in a comfortable condition.
