Man charged in connection with heroin seizure

A man is due in court in Co Meath this morning charged in connection with Friday's heroin seizure in Co Louth.

Meanwhile a 43-year-old man is due before Newry Magistrates Court in the North tomorrow charged with the unlawful importation and the supply of heroin.

On Friday gardaí seized over €3m worth of heroin when they stopped a jeep in Collon in Co Louth and three men were arrested.

This morning a 27-year-old will appear before a special sitting of Navan District Court.

A third man, a 45-year-old, is still being detained at Navan Garda Station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Friday's seizure was part of an international anti-drugs operation by Gardai, the PSNI and Dutch Police.
