Pair in court facing ATM fraud charges

A man and a woman are to appear before a special sitting of Athlone District Court this morning in connection with an investigation into ATM fraud.

They were arrested in the town on Friday night at around 11pm when Gardaí in Athlone were called to Marduke Street where a number of people were seen acting suspiciously near an ATM.

They fled the scene but gardaí pursued and a woman was arrested.

She was found in possession of a skimming device.

In a follow up search more skimming equipment was found and a man was arrested.

The man and woman will appear in court in Athlone this morning.
