Sword-attack man still being questioned

A 24-year-old man who was arrested yesterday after he tried to attack fire officers with a sword in Co Louth is still be questioned by Gardaí.

The attack happened in Marion Park in Dundalk in the early hours of yesterday morning as fire fighters were attending a car fire.

The man ran towards the fire officers wielding what appeared to be a samurai sword.

The fire fighters turned the hose on the man to defend themselves and no one was injured.

He is being questioned by Gardaí at Drogheda Garda Station.
