A large-scale search has been launched in Co Clare after a second young man was reported missing.

James Burke from Ballinruan, Whitegate was last seen at a 21 birthday party in Killaloe on Sunday night.

The alarm was raised this morning after the 24-year-old failed to turn up for work either today or yesterday.

It Is feared he may have slipped into Lough Derg.

A search by the Coastguard, local rescue services and up to fifty locals was launched.

The effort was later scaled down for the night, and was set to resume in the morning.

Meanwhile, there has still been no sign of the other missing Clare man who fell into the River Fergus in Ennis at the weekend.
