Man dies in car accident in Westmeath

A man has been killed in a road accident in Co Westmeath.

The single-vehicle accident happened in Tyrellspass at around 8.30am this morning.

Gardaí at Mullingar are investigating the incident.

The westbound carriageway between Tyrellspass and Kilbeggan is closed this afternoon.

Motorists are being diverted to the N6.
