Ahern announces Fianna Fáil registration in North

The Taoiseach confirmed last night that Fianna Fáil has been registered as a political party in the North.

Speaking at a Fianna Fáil dinner in Dublin, Bertie Ahern revealed that the North's Electoral Commission has now officially registered the party.

He also confirmed that his party is consulting its grassroots on the possibility of organising over the border.

Mr Ahern described the registration as an historic step in the development of the party on an all-Ireland basis.
