Car salesman acquitted of assaulting client

A car salesman has been acquitted by a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court jury of assaulting a client who returned a car he had bought at his car dealership and then directing the bank to stop the €23,750 repayment cheque.

A car salesman has been acquitted by a Dublin Circuit Criminal Court jury of assaulting a client who returned a car he had bought at his car dealership and then directing the bank to stop the €23,750 repayment cheque.

Shane Lyons (aged 37), of Three Rock Grove, Rathfarnham had pleaded not guilty to stopping the cheque on a date between May 18 and May 27, 2005 and to assaulting Mr Brian Stewart at L&L Autos, Cookstown, Tallaght on May 18, 2005.

Judge Patrick McCartan discharged Mr Lyons from the indictment and told him he was free to go. He thanked the jury of eight men and four women for their service.
