The Minister for Finance Brian Cowen today targeted maintaining a 'steady fiscal policy', as he revealed his budget for 2008.

He revealed that he will spend €8.6bn on capital investment, with a 0.9% budget deficit, and aims to create 24,000 jobs next year to put Ireland's unemployment rate among the lowest in the EU.

He also predicted GDP growth of 4.75% for the coming year.
