Dr Reilly 'still assessing possibility of more misdiagnosis'
Doctor James Reilly told reporters today that he is still seeking to establish whether more cases of misdiagnosis in cancer have occurred.
He was speaking outside Dáil Eireann at a protest organized and held by the National Women’s Council to highlight and bring attention to the recent number of women who have had to be recalled because they could have been given the wrong result from their mammographies.
NWCI Director Joanna McMinn said: "The confidence of the Irish public has been deeply eroded by the recent breast cancer scandal. What women could now have confidence in the cancer care system in this country?"
The NWCI called for women’s health services in Ireland that ensure universal access for all women to a full range of high quality and affordable health care. The NWCI demanded that the recent failure to provide accurate diagnosis must never be allowed to happen again
